Who are Local Food Direct?

Local Food Direct is a social enterprise working to give local people access to the wonderful local food produced in Norfolk and Suffolk.

We started up in October 2009 and have built up a wide customer base, as well as great relationships with over fifty local producers and suppliers.

We know that there are a lot of people out there who care where their food comes from – but in today’s hectic world, most people are too busy to make weekly treks around farm shops. That’s where we come in.

We liaise between the customer and the food producers, delivering your shop to your door and making it easier to avoid the mega-stores.

There are several reasons to buy locally produced food:
  • You’re keeping your money in the local economy, ensuring jobs for local people
  • You can make a significant reduction to your carbon footprint, because food hasn’t been shipped from further afield
  • You will have the freshest, most delicious local produce – no shipping across the globe and stacking in supermarkets, just straight from the farm to your door

As a social enterprise, we are also committed to offering employment opportunities to disadvantaged groups. We have a series of work placements, voluntary roles, training and life skills opportunities on offer.
